Prayer

Welcome to the UL Christian Union Prayer page! Here you will find advice on praying and links to various prayer topics and news.

"Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." - Philippians 4:4-7.

Praise Him
In your prayers, please always pray with thanksgiving, begin and end your prayers with praise in your heart to God (Philippians 4:6).

Pray in His name
We believe that prayer is more effective when it is informed and insightful, because the only prayer requests that God grants are those that are in His will according to His glorious character, prayers that are for His glory ("And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it." - John 14:13-14). To ask in Jesus' name is to ask in His character, and His will.

Remember His promises
Always remember the promises of God in your prayers because you know that He is faithful with what He has promised ("Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful." - Hebrews 10:23).

Persevere and persist
And pray with perseverance and with persistence, because God will not give a stone to those who need bread ("Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!" - Matthew 7:9-11).

Always pray
Pray without ceasing ("And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints." - Ephesians 6:18)

Trust Him
Remember that faith is that which is between the promise and its fulfilment which will come at the perfect time ("And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." - Romans 8:28, Ephesians 1:11). God does not delay without reason, but He does teach us to trust no matter what.
